Starship Reaches Orbit With 26 Starlink V3 Satellites

By YouHuYou Components · 2026-10-25 · Tangxia, Dongguan, China

SpaceX's Starship reached Earth orbit for the first time on Flight 14, carrying 26 Starlink V3 satellites, according to mission reports dated 24 October. The flight is the first to combine orbital insertion, long-duration operations, satellite deployment and a controlled re-entry, and three of the deployed satellites carry cameras aimed at the vehicle's heat shield.

The previous test, Flight 13 in July 2026, deployed 20 V3 satellites and survived re-entry with a controlled splashdown in the Indian Ocean, but did not reach orbit and did not recover the Super Heavy booster. Flight 14 therefore closes the gap between suborbital demonstration and an operational orbital transport system, which is the prerequisite for the higher launch cadence Starlink needs.

Falcon 9 continues to carry the load in the meantime. SpaceX launched its 83rd dedicated Starlink mission of 2026 on 24 October from Vandenberg, using booster B1063 on its 36th flight and landing it on a drone ship for the 673rd Falcon booster recovery. The company has launched 2,195 Starlink satellites this year and operates more than 11,100 in low Earth orbit.

The financial picture is equally relevant to suppliers. In its third-quarter filing SpaceX reported connectivity revenue of USD 5.2 billion, up 22 percent quarter on quarter, more than 11,100 Starlink satellites at quarter end including 26 V3 satellites deployed on Flight 14, 1.6 million net user additions in the quarter and service in 174 countries and organisations. Group revenue for the quarter was reported at USD 14.6 billion.

Higher cadence changes component demand in specific ways. Each V3 satellite carries phased-array antennas, GaN solid-state power amplifiers, rad-tolerant logic, high-reliability connectors and power conversion that must survive thermal cycling in vacuum. Constellation replenishment at thousands of units a year consumes those parts at a rate that few aerospace supply chains were built for, and it makes lot traceability and screening capacity as important as unit price.

For terrestrial builders, the same design patterns, wide-bandgap power stages, current monitoring and rugged interconnect, now appear in industrial and datacentre hardware. Our component catalogue includes parts suited to these power and monitoring roles, such as the INA238 85V power monitor and the TPS546D24A 40A converter.
