Bitcoin Holds $80K as ETF Outflows Test Miner Margins

By YouHuYou Components · 2026-10-25 · Tangxia, Dongguan, China

Bitcoin traded near USD 80,500 on 24 October, down about 1.3 percent in 24 hours and holding just above the USD 80,000 level that has become the reference point for mining margins. The move followed a risk-asset selloff earlier in the week and a USD 635.6 million net outflow from US spot bitcoin ETFs on Thursday, led by BlackRock's IBIT at USD 254.1 million.

October ETF flows have now turned negative by roughly USD 176 million despite more than USD 1 billion of inflows in the first three trading days of the week, a swing that shows how quickly institutional positioning reverses. On-chain data cited by market monitors shows about 32,380 BTC, worth roughly USD 2.6 billion, moving into exchanges in a single day, a pattern that historically precedes distribution.

Market structure is unusually leveraged. Derivatives volume reached USD 590.4 billion against USD 60.9 billion of spot volume, and the Fear and Greed index sits at 46. Brent crude near USD 113 to 116 a barrel is adding inflation pressure, and traders are positioning around the Federal Reserve meeting on 27 and 28 October.

Regulation is broadening in scope. The SEC's Division of Examinations named artificial intelligence and tokenisation as systemic risks in its FY2027 examination priorities, a shift from treating AI as a business tool to treating it as a market variable. Tokenised equity products also face objections from major US banks, while the IRS has moved to ease tax disclosure penalties covering crypto transactions.

For mining operators, a sustained USD 80,000 price changes hardware decisions more than it changes sentiment. Payback periods on new ASIC orders extend, hosted capacity contracts signed at higher hashprice assumptions come under review, and the marginal miner defers expansion. That typically trims demand for immersion cooling, high-efficiency power shelves and replacement hashboards before it affects electricity contracts.

Component buyers serving mining customers should expect order deferrals rather than cancellations, and should keep exposure to board-level parts that also serve datacentre and industrial power applications. YouHuYou supplies power conversion and monitoring silicon used in high-density compute and hashboard designs, including the INA238 85V power monitor and the TPS546D24A 40A converter.
