Non-Lethal Rodent Control Hits a Million-Dollar Quarter

By YouHuYou Components · 2026-10-19 · Tangxia, Dongguan, China

A category becomes real when somebody can report a growth number for it. On 15 October, SenesTech reported preliminary third-quarter revenue of approximately 1.1 million dollars, up about 40 percent on the second quarter and 55 percent on the same quarter of 2025. It is the company’s first quarter at or above one million dollars, and its second consecutive record.

The absolute number is small against the rodenticide market. The composition is what matters to anyone selling hardware into the same households and facilities.

What is actually growing

Chief executive Michael Edell attributed the quarter to three things: e-commerce scaling as a controllable acquisition channel, higher subscription revenue, and traction in vertical B2B. The company sells Evolve and ContraPest, fertility-control products that reduce rodent populations by limiting reproduction rather than by killing, plus assessment and monitoring services. Definitive third-quarter results are due in the week of 9 November.

Subscription revenue is the line to watch. A consumable that ships monthly changes a pest control purchase from a seasonal replacement decision into a recurring one, and it changes what a retailer or distributor has to stock. It also changes the competitive frame: a device that only repels has to justify its price every autumn, while a consumable programme has a customer relationship attached.

The timing is not accidental. Rodent Awareness Week runs from 18 to 24 October, the point in the northern autumn when outdoor food thins out and rodents move toward buildings. Pest control companies use the week to publish call data; manufacturers use it to open the retail season. A company reporting record revenue two days before the week starts is using the calendar deliberately.

What non-lethal volume means for device brands

The counter-read

One million dollars a quarter is a milestone, not a market. The company itself says it still has work to do, and the category is being built at a scale where a single retail programme can move the number by tens of percent. Buyers should read the result as evidence that non-lethal is a legitimate shelf category with paying customers, not as evidence that chemical control is finished.

What it does confirm is that the consumer is being educated. Every article, every retail listing and every subscription box that explains why a rodent is inside a building makes the next sale of an ultrasonic or repellent device easier, because the customer arrives already believing the problem is exclusion and deterrence rather than poison.

How to position for the season

Three practical steps for a brand or distributor going into the fourth quarter. First, price and package for a bundle: a repeller plus an exclusion kit plus a monitoring accessory converts better than a device alone. Second, put the seasonal trigger on the packaging — temperature drop, first frost, firewood brought inside — because that is when the search happens. Third, keep the compliance file ready: FIFRA device labelling in the United States, CE and RoHS in Europe, and country-specific plug and voltage variants.

Our rodent repeller range is built for private label programmes with the housing, frequency set and packaging specified by the buyer, and the surrounding electronics — ultrasonic drivers, sensors and power stages — are in the component catalogue.
